Travel the world tends to feature pretty highly on most of our bucket lists. Who doesn’t want to see the big sights? Who doesn’t want to find themselves immersed in different cultures, surrounded by different languages, cuisines, wildlife, entertainment and more? When it comes down to it, travel is pretty great and it’s not all too surprising that many of us spend a fair amount of time saving to get away to the places we most want to see. But what should you pack if you’re going to head away and travel the world? All too many of us find ourselves packing last minute and end up missing a few important items. To help you avoid this situation, here are a few Travelling essentials that should be in your travel bag before you head away!

Your Passport
Your passport is perhaps the most important thing you should have with you when you’re travelling. This is what will allow you to cross borders. Without it, you won’t be getting very far. Sure, this may seem like a pretty straightforward and obvious point, but you’d be surprised how many people miss flights because they’ve forgotten to bring their passport with them. Make sure it’s always in your hand luggage, rather than your hold luggage. This way, it is on you at all times and can be shown as required.
An Itinerary
Sure, you don’t need an itinerary. But this will help you to plan your time and organise yourself while you’re away. With an itinerary, you can create a day by day guide that will fit in everything you want to see or do in each location you visit. Of course, you don’t have to stick to it. You might want to stay somewhere longer than planned, leave somewhere earlier than planned, or perhaps even seek a spouse visa application and not leave at all. But it’s a good starting point.
Spare glasses and sunglasses
If you have glasses or contact lenses, you should always bring along spare contacts or a spare pair of glasses on your trip. You don’t want to lose your contact lenses or glasses and not be able to enjoy the rest of your trip, or waste time looking to buy spares. This goes for sunglasses too!
A First Aid Kit
Every traveller should have a first aid kit with them. This will help you to deal with injuries or sickness. Your first aid kit should include:
- Plasters in a variety of shapes and sizes
- Waterproof plasters
- Gauze dressings of different sizes
- Microporous tape
- Two sterile eye dressings
- An eye rinse kit
- Triangular bandages
- Safety pins
- ยูฟ่าเบท
- Sterile disposable gloves
Basic medication, such as paracetamol or ibuprofen, diarrhoea treatment, heartburn tablets, antihistamines and more, are also highly recommended. You never know when you might need them!
Sure, you’ll need to take more than this along on world travel. But these are some good basics to ensure you fit into your suitcase or travel bag!
